Yellow Door Concert Series Started By Alexandria Musicians

Alexandria musicians Robyn and Vaughn Ambrose, founders of the Yellow Door Concert Series, are determined to bring the local community together through live music. The Ambrose’s founded the Yellow Door Concert Series in 2018 after noticing a lack of opportunity for community members to experience the arts and music in Alexandria. $50 million Contributed By Boeing For Virginia Tech Innovation Campus

Boeing is chipping in $50 million toward the Virginia Tech Innovation Campus in Alexandria, Virginia, and it’s the biggest donation in Virginia Tech’s history, the university said. The multi-year commitment will help build the campus, as well as fund scholarships, fellowships, and academic programs for university students and to help steer a diverse group of K-12 students toward the technology fields. Old Town ‘Streatery’ Car-Free Zone Extended Until Spring 2021

The pedestrian-only restaurant zone in Old Town has been voted to keep in place through March 2021 by the Alexandria City Council. The waterfront park of Northern Virginia city and 100 block of King Street near the Potomac River have restaurant seating on the sidewalks and along the road where cars typically would park. Fort Hunt Presents Flag Football For Players Of High School

The flag football program for kids 13 years and younger are now joined by a high school 7-vs-7 non-contact league for kids 14-to-18 years of age. Fort Hunt will also be offering skills and drills camps on select Saturdays and Sundays beginning in September, offering position-specific training for all positions on the football field led by current high school and college coaches. Alexandria To Recieve $75 Million For Duke Street Transitway Project

$75 million will be received by the City of Alexandria, Virginia, in funding from the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority for construction of the first phase of the Duke Street Transitway project in 2025, according to a news release. The Duke Street Transitway will create dedicated bus-rapid-transit lines along with one of Alexandria’s heaviest traveled corridors. It will add capacity and infrastructure improvements to the segment of Duke Street between the King Street-Old Town Metro Station and the former Landmark Mall site.
